Fraxel DUAL laser treatment improves your appearance by applying columns of laser energy, affecting only a fraction of your skin at a time with thousands of microscopic laser spots.
Is Fraxel DUAL Treatment Right for You?
Fraxel DUAL is ideal for patients who are bothered by conditions such as:
- Fine lines around eyes
- Uneven pigmentation
- Brown spots, age spots
- Sun damage / Photodamage
- Acne scarring and other scars
After a single treatment, patients will begin to see a difference in their skin, which becomes gradually, smoother, with less pigmentation and skin irregularities. Fine lines around the eyes will noticeably reduce as will uneven coloring and brown spots caused by aging and sun exposure. Patients with melasma can also benefit. Melasma is brown patchy pigmentation that develops on the cheeks, above the lip and forehead. This can be a frustrating difficult condition to treat and is very susceptible to sun exposure.
What to Expect During a Fraxel DUAL Treatment
During laser treatment, the doctor makes several passes across the skin, applying the laser energy in an even pattern. Fraxel DUAL can be applied to the face, neck, chest and extremities.
Normally 3-4 treatments are recommended at 2-3 week intervals for optimal results. A noticeable difference in skin texture is noted with each treatment.
After Your Fraxel DUAL Laser Treatment
The skin will have a pinkish tone similar to a sunburn for 5–7 days after treatment. Swelling is minimal and generally resolves in two to three days. Patients will want to keep their skin hydrated with an ointment or basic moisturizer like Vanicreme while the skin heals.
What are the benefits of Fraxel DUAL treatment?
- Smoother, fresher looking skin
- Improved tone and texture
- Reduced wrinkles around the eyes
- Improved appearance of acne scars and surgical scars
What side-effects can I expect after treatment and how long will they last?
You will have some degree of redness and swelling. The intensity and duration depends on how aggressive the treatment was and your particular healing characteristics. Other temporary side-effects may include minor itching, dry skin, peeling or flaking, and a bronzed skin appearance. You will be given specific instructions about what to expect for your particular treatment and how to minimize the side-effects.
What precautions should I take after my treatment?
Wear sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher and avoid direct sun exposure while you’re healing for at least 3 months after your last treatment. Further protect yourself by wearing wide-brimmed hats if you expect to be out in sun.
Does Fraxel DUAL treatment hurt?
Topical anesthesia is applied before the procedure and cold air is used on the treatment area during the procedure to minimize discomfort. After the treatment, most patients report a feeling similar to having too much sun. It usually disappears after 1 to 3 hours.
